I took this picture of me while I was painting to show an example of our assignment this week. This picture or any picture of someone painting or drawing is very peaceful to me. This is an escape, a place where you are your own judge and free to do what you want. The process was interesting since I couldn't stand behind the camera, but the result shows what I wanted. There is a difference in Contrast in the faces in the picture. The Contrast of light is very apparent. The face on the left has a harsher and darker contrast than the face on the right which is the opposite effect. The balance is a-symmetrical, but in this picture is almost like a Yin Yang. You have a dark side and light side with a light source hitting the ear on the left and the darker shadows on the hand on the right. There is also harmony in this picture. That is shown by how the face of the painter is hidden while the face of what is being painted is visible, almost like looking in a mirror. By showing this there is a connection between the two figures.
